一般都要用过去式的，因为你讲的是一个故事，故事一般讲以前的。

我这儿有例题：

Long long ago in a small forest, lived two bears. One big and one small. One day, the small bear told the big bear: “I want to make a big house!” The big bear told him: “OK, we can make it by ourselves.”So, the two went into the forest together to find woods for the house. They took axes with them, and chose the trees very carefully. Then, they decided to cut one.But the big bear told the small bear: “we should not cut too many trees, because it’s not good for the Earth!” The small bear nodded his head and understood.In the end, the two made a big house, and they moved to the house, enjoyed their lives together!
