从前有个姓祝的地主，人称祝员外，他的女儿祝英台不仅美丽大方，而且非常的聪明好学。但由于古时候女子不能进学堂读书，祝英台只好日日倚在窗栏上，望着大街上身背着书箱来来往往的读书人，心里羡慕极了！难道女子只能在家里绣花吗？为什么我不能去上学？她突然反问自己：对啊！我为什么就不能上学呢？
想到这儿，祝英台赶紧回到房间，鼓起勇气向父母要求： “爹，娘，我要到杭州去读书。我可以穿男人的衣服，扮成男人的样子，一定不让别人认出来，你们就答应我吧！”祝员外夫妇开始不同意，但经不住英台撒娇哀求，只好答应了。
第二天一清早，天刚蒙蒙亮，祝英台就和丫鬟扮成男装，辞别父母，带着书箱，兴高采烈地出发去杭州了。
到了学堂，祝英台遇见了一个叫梁山伯的男同学，学问出众，人品也十分优秀。两人一见如故，常常在一起谈古论今，吟诗诵文。后来，两人结拜为兄弟，更是时时刻刻，形影不离。
春去秋来，一晃三年过去了，学年期满，该是打点行装、拜别老师、返回家乡的时候了。同窗共烛整三载，祝英台已经深深爱上了她的梁兄，而梁山伯虽不知祝英台是女生，但对她也恋恋不舍。回到家后，都日夜思念着对方。几个月后，梁山伯前往祝家拜访，结果令他又惊又喜。原来这时，他见到的祝英台，已不再是那个清秀的小书生，而是一位年轻美貌的大姑娘。再见的那一刻，他们都明白了彼此之间的感情，早已是心心相印。
此后，梁山伯请人到祝家去求亲。可祝员外早已把女儿许配给了有钱人家的少爷马公子。梁山伯顿觉万念俱灰，一病不起，没多久就死去了。
听到梁山伯去世的消息，一直在与父母抗争的祝英台反而突然变得异常镇静。她套上红衣红裙，走进了迎亲的花轿。迎亲的队伍一路敲锣打鼓，好不热闹！路过梁山伯的坟前时，忽然间飞沙走石，花轿不得不停了下来。只见祝英台走出轿来，脱去红装，一身素服，缓缓地走到坟前，跪下来放声大哭，霎时间风雨飘摇，雷声大作， “轰”的一声，坟墓裂开了，祝英台似乎又见到了她的梁兄那温柔的面庞，她微笑着纵身跳了进去。接着又是一声巨响，坟墓合上了。这时风消云散，雨过天晴，各种野花在风中轻柔地摇曳，一对美丽的蝴蝶从坟头飞出来，在阳光下自由地翩翩起舞。

Long long ago there was a landlord surnamed Zhu. He had a daughter named Zhu Yingtai who was very beautiful and smart and liked learning very much. However the girl was not permitted to go to school ring that old time. So she had to stay at home and looked at the students coming and going on the street through the window everyday. She envied them very much and thought: Why the girl has to stay at home and do the embroidering? Why I can't go to school?
Suddenly she went back to the room and told her parents with courage:"Dad, Mum, I want to go to Hangzhou to have classes. I can wear man's garments and act like a man and I will not be recognized .I promise. Please let me go, please! "The old couple didn't agree at first but had to do so later because Yingtai implored continually.
The next morning, Yingtai and her maid all in man's suits set out to Hangzhou happily after bidding a farewell to her parents.
At school she met a classmate named Liang Shanbo who was excellent and knowledgeable. They were like old friends just the moment they saw each other for the first sight. The two talked and discussed together a lot from then on. Later, they decided to be sworn brothers and became more intimate than before .
Spring went autumn came. Three years had gone. It was time to say goodbye to her teacher and return home. Zhu Yingtai felt she loved Liang Shanbo very much after three year's studying together. Liang also hated to see her going home although he didn't know that she was a girl actually. They missed each other day and night after their parting . Several months' later, Liang Shanbo went to visit Zhu Yingtai and he found Yingtai a girl with surprise and rejoicing.
Later, Liang Shanbo sent a woman matchmaker to Zhu's to get the permission of marrying with Yingtai. But the landlord had already accepted the proposal of the young master surnamed Ma, a son of a rich family. Liang Shanbo felt utterly sad and got sick severely. Soon he died.
Yingtai who opposed her father's decision of marrying her with master Ma became strangely silent when she received the message of her brother Liang's passing away. She put the red wedding apparel on and went into the bridle sedan. When the party of escorting the bride passed by the tomb of Liang Shanbo. The wind blew hardly out of expectation. The party had to stop for the time being. Yingtai came out from the sedan and put the red wedding attire off and just was in white. She cried loudly and sadly in front of the tomb. A sudden thunder-storm came and the tomb split with loud noise amazingly. Yingtai who loved Liang deeply jumped into the tomb with smile before others could realize it. Then the tomb closed with a loud noise again. The wind ceased and the cloud scattered. Flowers were dancing in the wind.Two beautiful butterflies flying out of the tomb danced elegantly , freely and happily in the sun.

Scene1（At Salesman’s home）
N: In a dark dirty house, there lived a small, dirty salesman. He always makes unhealthy candies and sells them to the students. He has a lot of money now. But how does he make the candies? Oh, xu …… He is coming!
S: Hello, do you know me? No? Oh, let me tell you .I’m the famous candy salesman at the school gate. My candies are very popular,(展示)，I don’t know why. The foolish students always come here. I’ll be a boss soon! Candy, money, candy, money……
Oops! It’s time to make candies now.(看表)
First, put the flour on the table.
Then, water, sugar, flour.(边说边做)
Now press, press……
Oh, my dirty hands! Never mind! Just do it!(满不在意的神情)
Press, press……
Oh, my god!(鼻涕)Never mind! Just do it!
Press, press, the children will not know it , it’s OK,hehehe……
Now let me cut it into pieces!
One, two, three, four, five……（用脏菜刀）
Wow, everything is ready!
糖果钻出来（跳舞），跳完后，非常难过地说：Oh, I’m so dirty and ugly! What can I do? The students will eat me! And they will be ill! Wuwuwu…
S: Mmmm…It looks dirty, let me give you a nice coat! (给它穿上) Wow! Now it’s so beautiful! Haha……
C: Oh, no! Don’t sell me! I’m dirty!(拖糖果下场)
Scene2（At the school gate）
N: The next day, when the class is over, all the students come out happily and the salesman goes to the school gate as usual. （Maggie和Alice 欢快地跑出校门，看到小贩）
(小贩拉着糖上场，吆喝)：Candies! Candies! Sweet candies! ……
M: Oh, Alice! Look! Candies!
A: Yeah! I think they are yummy!
M: Let’s ask him.
A: OK!
C: Don’t buy me！（非常焦急）
M&A: Why?
C: I’m dirty！
M: No, you look nice!
C: What can I do? (面向观众) Wuwuwu…(小贩将她拉在后面)
S: Candies! Candies!（引诱两个女孩）
M&A: How much are they?
S: Do you have money?（轻蔑）
M&A: Money?(对视)
M:Oh, I’ve no money!（失落之极）
A: Me too.
S: No money? So sorry!(吆喝着走开，下场)
M: What can we do now?
A: Let’s ask dad for money.
M: But how to ask?
A: How?…Oh,I know ,let’s make him happy ,and he will give us money.（自信）
M: Good idea!(全部下场)
Scene 3:（At Maggie’s home）
N: The children have to go home and ask dad for some money, and they know their father is good at playing guitar, so they will do something clever. (爸爸看报)
M: Dad,dad,let’s sing a song ,OK? (同时Alice去取吉他准备拿给爸爸)
A: And play the guitar for us!
M: We know you play so well!
(爸爸诧异地看着孩子)
D: Oh? What a bright day today!
M&A: Please, dad!(哀求)
D:OKOK! Let’s.
(取吉他，开始准备)D: Which song do you like? How about Edelweiss?
M&A: Of course!
(开始弹，第一段孩子随节奏起舞，第二段孩子开始轻声讨论起来“you first”之类的话，爸爸停止弹琴。)
D: What’s the matter?
M: Dad, we have no money!
A: Can we have some please?
D: I think you have lots of pocket money ,and you don’t need any more.
M:I want to buy some candies at the school gate.
A: They look so sweet and nice!
M: Other students always buy them!
D: But……You can’t ! They are quite unhealthy. Please go and do your homework..(置之不理，转头看报，孩子回到房间)
