Urena procumbens Linn., a species first described in Linnaeus' "Sp. Pl." on page 692 in 1753, was later cited by various authors such as Cavan. in his Diss. 6: 337, 1788; Lour. in "Fl. Cochinch." at 417, 1790, and ed. Willd. in "Sp. Pl." 3: 802, 1800. Pers. Syn. Pl. 2: 253, 1806, and Poir. in Encycl. Bot. 8: 258, 1808, also acknowledged this species. Later, DC. included it in his "Prodr." 1: 441, 1824, and Hochr. mentioned it in "Ann. Cons. Jard. Bot. Geneve" 5: 144, 1901. S. Y, Hu's "Fl, China Family" 153: 77, with plant illustrations, was published in 1955, and in 1965, Ch'en Huayong's "Flora of Hainan" 2: 96 featured this species.
Urena sinuata Linn., another variant, was first documented by Linn. in "Sp. Pl." 692, 1753. Subsequently, Benth. listed it in "Fl. Hongk." at 34, 1861, and Forbes Hemsl. provided details in "Jour. Linn. Soc. Bot." 23: 87, 1886, with an emphasis on Chinese flora. Matsum. & Hayata further studied it in "Jour. Coll. Sci. Univ. Tokyo" 22: 54, 1906, and Hayata included it in "Ic. Pl. Formosa" 1: 97, 1911. Dunn & Tutch. contributed to "Kew Bull. add. ser." 10, 48, 1912, focusing on the flora of Kwangtung and Hongk. T. Ito's work in "Ill. Fl. Formosa" ed. 2, 172, f. 170, 1928, and Hand.-Mazz. in "Beih. Bot. Centralbl." 25(b): 164, 1934, also featured this specific subspecies. In 1966, Borss. referred to it as Urena lobata Linn. ssp. sinuata in Blumea 14: 142.

梵天花又称三角枫、三合枫等，属锦葵科植物。梵天花为直立半灌木状草本，有分枝，高约1米，枝条密生星状短柔毛。分布我国浙江、福建、台湾、广东、广西、湖南等地，一般生于生于山野、路边、荒坡、干旱地或灌丛中。具备祛风解毒、健脾去湿，化瘀活血等功效。
