a friend of my father`s是正确的表达，== one of my father's friends
a friend of his == one of his friends
a friend of mine == one of my friends

注意：
She is a friend of that man's. 是正确的表达，但用在下面就是错误的表达：
She is a friend of that man's, who lives next door to me.-------如果who lives next door to me修饰that man's，不修饰a friend。
正确的应该是：
She is a friend of that man, who lives next door to me.或者：
She is a friend of the man, who lives next door to me.
想想，为什么必须这样。

of后面用名词，那只能用代名词，his和mine. him是宾格,my是所有格，不可以。
