The old man looked around, as if （ he was ） in search of something. 3. 在 whether 引导的让步状语从句中，表示时间的 it is / was 可以省略。例如： Whether （ it was ） summer or winter, his clothes were always dirty. 4. if 引导的从句中的 it is 也可省略； if not 可以表示与前面相反的情况。例如： If necessary, please call me.
