Anne of Green Gables
The "Anne of Green Gables" is among my favorite books. I was deeply moved by the passionate and lovely Anne's spirit. The author of this book is Lucy Maud Montgomery, born in Canada in 1874. She was skilled in storytelling and began publishing her poems at the age of 15. Despite teaching for a living, she managed to pen down the "Anne of Green Gables," which took the village she lived in as its backdrop. It wasn't until 1908 that a publisher agreed to publish her novel, but it became an instant hit, capturing the attention of readers worldwide.
Montgomery's clean, smooth, vivid, and humorous style is employed to relate the story of the pure-hearted and lovely protagonist, Anne. Anne Shirley, a girl with red hair and freckles, lost her parents at a young age and went through several hardships. She was mistakenly sent to the Cuthbert family instead of a boy, but they decided to keep her. Anne embraced life with joy and adapted quickly, embarking on her new journey. She cherished nature, fantasy, and was rich in imagination. Her straightforwardness led to unforeseen mistakes, but the rest of the book unfolds her continued ecation at school, where she excelled academically. She formed true friendships with Diana Barry (her best friend, "bosom friend"), Jane Andrews, Ruby Gillis, and had a rivalry with Gilbert Blythe, who teased her about her red hair, although he repeatedly apologized. Anne's intelligence, resilience, and kind-heartedness shone through, as she stood firm and valued friendship greatly.
Anne won over her friends with her love and insisted on her beliefs with her stubbornness. She coped with loneliness through her romantic and imaginative thoughts. The novel portrays a bright and wonderful character, much like sunlight, and the poetic depiction of nature and rural life deeply moves readers worldwide. The work has stood the test of time, conquering the hearts of approximately 50 million readers. Anne's pure heart breaks through national and age boundaries, moving the world.
For me, the most unforgettable part is when Anne, after being misunderstood by her friend Diana's mother, did not harbor any ill will. Diana was Anne's best friend. One day, Diana invited Anne to her home for tea. They drank and chatted like alts. Anne mistook fruit wine for juice and gave it to Diana to drink, which was actually e to Marina's carelessness. As Diana drank too much, her parents thought Anne was a bad influence and did not allow them to play together. Anne felt very sad, but she did not hate them. Coincidentally, a few days later, on a cold night, Diana's younger sister contracted laryngitis. The situation was critical, but people had gone to town to participate in activities. Then, Anne bravely took on the responsibilities of an alt. With her prior experience, she took care of the little girl along with Diana and another child. In the end, the little sister recovered. Anne successfully rescued Diana's younger sister and finally won her parents' trust.
Anne is a genius of imagination. The usual scene immediately turned into a fantasy place after she gave these places some poetic names, such as the "Violet Trench," "the Pond of Willow," "Lover's Lane." The Matthews family, who adopted her, was not very wealthy. Although Anne also desired to be as pretty and well-dressed as other girls, she did not complain. Without a beautiful coat, she imagined herself like a princess and enjoyed herself. Matthew Cuthbert, the master of the Green Gables farmhouse, was very shy. He dare not talk to women except for his younger sister. But he was a very kind man and the first one to find the mistake. He thought Anne was full of hope and dreams. He was very fond of Anne. Matthew treated Anne as a family member and loved her dearly. In the end of "Anne of Green Gables," Matthew died of a heart attack. Miss Marina's temper was opposite to Matthew's. She was prim and serious and was very strict with Anne. She often quarreled with Anne at first. But she loved this very much like Anne, although she was like a chatterbox without stopping. Anne was admitted to study at the Queen's college with her talent and hard work. One night, Miss Marina wept very sadly because she missed Anne so much. Her school was far away from the Green Gables. Because she loved her so much that she tried to be strict with her. "Scold is love" - it is the best example.
"Anne of Green Gables" is one of the sweetest novels about children's lives. Canadian writer Montgomery described a girl with very distinct personality and rich imagination, and I love the wonderful scenery described by Montgomery, so I want to visit the place where Anne lived.
She won respect not only by her virtue of hard work but also her love. Anne's eyes let me see the beautiful world, it seems like a poem or a piece of painting. Anne is like a flame that lit up my heart! From now on, even if I meet despair, I will try my best to climb out. Even when I enter the dangerous desert, I can also work it out, because the world is wonderful!
