一.由some和any所构成的复合不定代词（即something和anything；someone和anyone；somebody和anybody；somewhere和anywhere）之间的区别跟some和any的区别一样。（参见some和any的区别）
1.something，someone，somebody等用于肯定句，而anything，anyone，anybody一般用于否定句，疑问句或条件状语从句中。如：
There's somebody at the door.门那边有人。
Did an yone telephone?有人打电话吗？
I don't think anybody telephoned.我不认为有人打过电话。
Let's go somewhere nice for dinner.让我们一起去好点的地方去吃晚饭吧。
Do you know anywhere nice?你知道哪里好吗？
I don't want to go anywhere too expensive.我不想去很贵的地方。
2.somebody，something，anybody和anything都是单数，后面的谓语动词用单数形式，试比较下面的句子：
There is somebody waiting to see you.有人在等着见你。
There are some people waiting to see you.有一些人在等着见你。
3.若句中有定语修饰复合不定代词，应放在不定代词的后面，如：
He has nothing much to do today. 他今天没有多少事情做？
I have something important to tell you. 我有一些重要的事儿要告诉你们。
4、表示请求、邀请、提建议等带有委婉语气的疑问句，和希望得到对方肯定答复的疑问句，以及表示反问的问句中，也用something，someone，somebody等复合不定代词。如:
Would you like something to eat？要些吃的东西吗？
Isn’t there something wrong with you? 难道你没问题吗？
5.当anything表示“任何事（物），无论何事（物）”，anyone，anybody表示“无论谁，任何人”等意义时，它们也可以用于肯定句中。如：
Anything is OK. 什么都行。
Anybody knows the answer.
任何人都知道答案。
二.不定代词的否定形式
1、not everybody，not everyone，not everything等not every加后缀词组成的不定代词表示部分否定，意为“并非都，不都”。如：
Not everything will go well. 并非一切都会那么顺利。
The teacher didn’t call everyone’s name. 老师并没有点所有人的名。
2、“not any-”和no-则表示全部否定。如：
He listened, but heard nothing.= He listened, but didn’t hear anything.
他听了听，但什么也没听到。
You haven’t called anyone/anybody up, have you? = You have called no one one / nody up, have you?
你没给谁打过电话，是吗？
