《The Ugly Duckling》
A ck is sitting on five eggs.
The eggs break and five baby cks come out.
The mother ck looks at her babies.
She has four beautiful baby cks. But one is different.
It is big and grey. Its legs are very long.
The mother ck doesn't like it.
"Go away!" she says to the different ck."You are not my baby."
The different ck says goodbye and goes away. It's sad.
在古代，当有人要出门远行时，送别的人就会对他说“ God be with ye （ you ）”，意思是“上帝与你同在”。
后来，说得快了，这句话的后半部分“ be with ye ”就简化成了 bye ，而受“ good morning ”、“ good afternoon ”等问候语的影响，前面的 God 也变成了 good 。
所以最后整句话就演变成了“ good bye ”，其实是God be with you的含义。
