本命年
“本命年”是按照出生的农历十二生肖来命名的年份。最初为五行数命回归之年，即60年一本命年，目前主要是十二年一遇的农历属相所在的年份，也称“属相年”。在汉族传统习俗中，本命年常被认为是一个不吉利的年份。每人到本命年时，不论大人小孩均需系上红腰带，俗称“扎红”，小孩还要穿红背心、红裤衩，认为这样才能趋吉避凶、消灾免祸;现在这种意识比较淡薄。

Chinese Zodiac Years correlate to a birth year represented by an animal of the year determined by the twelve celestial branches. Originally, it was based on the years of Five Elements or "a cycle of 60 years." Now, the animal years rotate in a cycle of twelve years. In the Chinese tradition, when people revisit the year of the animal in which they were born, it is considered an unlucky year. Both alts and children should wear a red string upon their waist, a practice called "tying red". Children in particular should wear red vest and pants to attract good fortune and ward off calamity. This tradition is falling into disuse.
