In the past, there was a man who kept thirty sheep.
从前，有一个人，养了三十只羊。
One morning, he discovered that one sheep was missing.
一天早上，他发现少了一只羊。
Where had it gone?
这只羊到哪儿去了呢?
Upon examination, he found that his fold was damaged.
再一查看，原来是他的羊圈坏了。
During the night a wolf had broken into the fold and devoured the sheep.
夜里狼闯进羊圈，羊是被狼吃掉的。
His friend said to him: "You had better mend the fold quickly."
他的朋友对他说:“快把羊圈修理修理吧!”
He said: "The sheep had already been devoured by the wolf. What is the use of mending the fold?"
他说: “羊已经被狼吃了，修理羊圈还有什么用呢?”
He did not listen to his friend's advice.
他没有听取朋友的意见。
The following morning, he discovered that ring the night the wolf had again broken into the fold and devoured another sheep.

One morning, the shepherd discovered that one of his sheep was missing.It turned out that, ring the night, a wolf had stolen his sheep through a hole in the sheep pen.
一天早上，他发现少了一只羊。原来羊圈破了个窟窿，夜间狼从窟窿里钻进来把羊叼走了。
His neighbor suggested to him: "You should fix the pen and cover the hole right away."
邻居劝告他说：“赶快把羊圈修一修，堵上那个窟窿吧。”
But the shepherd said: "The sheep is already lost, so I don't need to repair it." And so he rejected the neighbor's suggestion.
他说：“羊已经丢了，还修羊圈干什么呢?”他没接受邻居的劝告。

The shepherd regretted not taking the neighbor's advice.So he plugged the hole to secure the sheep pen.

From then on, no more sheep was stolen by the wolf.

第二天早上，他去放羊，发现又少了一只羊。原来狼又从窟窿里钻进羊圈，又叼走了一只羊。
这位牧民很后悔没有认直接受邻居的劝告，去及时采取补救措施。于是，他赶紧堵上那个窟窿，又从整体进行加固，把羊圈修得牢牢实实的。
从此，这个牧民的羊就再也没有被野狼叼走过了。
牧民的故事告诉我们：犯了错误，遭到挫折，这是常见的现象。只要能认真吸取教训，及时采取补救措施，就可以避免继续犯错误，遭受更大的损失。
