Jack is a 15-year-old boy and（这里根本不构成转折关系，不需要用but） he is very interested in the universe. One day, to his surprise, he discovered a new planet through his telescope! （同理，这里也不需要用But）Jack didn't tell anybody about it. He just kept it as（缺少介词） a secret because he wanted to study it carefully（study译为“研究”时是及物动词，不需要加介词on）, and gave （前面一直用过去时，真不明白为什么这里突然又改用现在时了）the world a great surprise in the future!
