通常情况下，如果是用but，那前面就是逗号，但有时but前面也不加标点符号，注意下面两句1..It is hot in summer here, but it is not cold in winter.2.He is old but strong.（but前没有标点）

如果两个分句关系密切，but前面可用可不用逗号；如果关系较远，but前面可用句号：
She is young but very experienced. 她虽然年轻但经验丰富。
It never rains but it pours. 不雨则已，一雨倾盆。
Mary likes classical music（, ）but her husband likes rock music.
