The road home
回家的路上
“If you stayed here a bit longer（在久一点）,you might start liking the seaside,” said Daisy.
“如果你在这里呆的再久一点，也许你会开始喜欢海边。”黛斯丽说。
But Princess Pip wasn’t listening. She was putting all her important things in her suitcase（行李箱）.
但是公主皮皮不听。她正在把她所有重要的东西放进她的行李箱里。
“I think we’ll have to take some things out,”said Daisy.
“我认为我们应该把一些东西拿出来。”黛斯丽说。
Daisy found them both backpacks, and they set out（出发） for home.
黛斯丽给她们俩找来了背包，然后她们就出发回家了。
Princess Pip and Daisy went across the drawbridge（吊桥） and along the road.
公主皮皮和黛斯丽走过吊桥，沿着公路走。
It was very hot.
天气非常的热。
“Let’s have a nice,cool snack,”said Daisy.
“让我们吃一些美味的凉小吃吧。”黛斯丽说。
So they got some fish sticks（鱼条） from a stall（小摊）.
然后她们就在小摊上吃了一些鱼条。
“These aren’t bad,” admitted（承认） Princess Pip.
“还不错。”公主皮皮承认道。
“They taste best by the seaside,” said Daisy. “ I’ll show you where the fish come from, if you like（如果你愿意的话）.”
“在海边的味道是最好的。”黛斯丽说：“如果你愿意的话，我将会带你去看看这些鱼是从哪里来的。”
They went down（沿着---往下走） some stone steps （石阶）to a place where the sea swished backwards and forwards （海水唰唰的冲上来又流下去）and the ground looked as if （好像）it was made of gold.
她们沿着石阶往下走，到达了一个海水涮涮的冲上来，又流下去的地方，地面看起来像金子做的。
“Look in these pools,” said Daisy.
“往这些池子里看。”黛斯丽说。
The fish were hard（难的） to catch.
这些鱼很难捉到。
”You could take your stockings off,” said Daisy, “and use them for （用他们当---）nets.”
“你可以把你的长筒袜脱下来。”黛斯丽说，“用它们当鱼网。”
It was nice without shoes and stockings on（不穿--）. It was even nicer once Princess Pip had taken off her coat and crown.
不穿鞋和裤子的感觉很好。对于公主皮皮来说，脱下她的大衣、摘下她的王冠是更好不过的了。
The fish looked very cross at(对---很生气） being caught（被抓到）， so Princess Pip let them go（放了他们）.
被抓住的鱼看上去非常恼怒，所以皮皮公主放了它们。
“It’s not too bad here,” said Princess Pip,at last. “ I want to stay here all the time.”
“这里也不是那么的坏。”最后皮皮公主说。“我想住在这里一辈子。”
“Let’s build a sandcastle, then,” said Daisy.
“让我们在这里造一座沙子城堡吧！”黛斯丽说道。
“A sand HOUSE,” said Princess Pip.
“一个沙子的房子！”皮皮公主说道。
It was hard work（费力的活）, but they built a huge house, with a moat （护城河）all around.
这是一个费力的活，但是她们建了一个非常巨大的房子，在周围还有护城河。
Soon the sea came in and filled the moat.
不久，海水流进去灌满了护城河。
“That’s just right（对对对）.”said Princess Pip. “Make it stop coming in（让水别再进来了） now,Daisy.”
“对，对，对！”皮皮公主说道，“让水别再进来了，黛斯丽。”
But the sea kept on（继续） coming in......
但是，海水还是继续往进灌……
...... and soon it had washed their house FLAT（平的）.
……不久，它把她们的房子冲平了。
“ We built our house too close to （太靠近）the sea,”said Daisy, sadly.
“我们建的房子太靠近海了。”黛斯丽遗憾的说。
“STUPID（讨厌的、愚蠢的） SEA!”shouted Princess Pip. “STUPID SEASIDE! I WANT TO GO HOME!”
“讨厌的大海！”皮皮公主大喊道。“讨厌的海边！我想要回家！”

Riding the dragon
骑龙
Princess Pip and Daisy put on their shoes and picked up （拿起）their backpacks.
皮皮公主和黛斯丽穿上鞋子，然后拿起了她们的背包。
“I’m tired,”said Princess Pip, very soon. “ I want to ride Dobbin(大马）. Are we nearly home, yet?”
“我好累呀。”很快，皮皮公主说道。“我想去骑大马。我们是不是已经在家附近了？”
“Why don’t you ride one of the horses on that merry-go-round(旋转木马）?” suggested Daisy.
“你为什么不去骑旋转木马中的一个马呢？”黛斯丽建议道。
“Oh, no,”said Princess Pip. “ I’m going to ride that dragon.”
“哦，不！”皮皮公主说。“我更想去骑龙。”
The dragon went very fast, and there was lots of exciting music--but then it all stopped. Everyone got off（下来）.
龙转的非常的快，而且它还配有很多刺激的音乐——但是它停下来了，所有人都下来了。
“But....we’re still here!” said Princess Pip, crossly, as she got off ,too.
“但是……我们仍然在这里！” 当皮皮公主也下来时，她生气的说道。
“At least it wasn’t boring,” said Daisy.
“但至少它不无聊。”黛斯丽说道。
“I WANT TO GO HOME!” shouted Princess Pip.
“我想要回家！”皮皮公主大喊道。
“At least it was fun,” said Daisy. “Everything is fun here because it’s a FUN-fair（游乐场）.”
“至少它很好玩。”黛斯丽说。“这里的所有事情都很有趣因为这里是游乐场。”
Princess Pip sniffed. “ What’s fun about it?” she asked.
皮皮公主哼了一声。“有什么好玩的？”她说。
“I’ll show you,” said Daisy.
“我会告诉你的。”黛斯丽说。
They went down the roller coaster（过山车）.
她们坐上了过山车。
Then they went UP and UP and ....DOWN again.
她们一直在不停地上上下下。
“AARRRRGH!” yelled Princess Pip and Daisy.
“啊啊啊啊啊啊啊！”皮皮公主和黛斯丽大叫。
“Let’s go on it（去坐） again,” said Princess Pip.
“我们再去做一次吧。”皮皮公主说。
“ Tomorrow, perhaps,” said Daisy, who had gone very pale.
“明天，也许吧。”黛斯丽说，她的脸色变得惨白。
“BUT I WANT...” began Princess Pip.
“但是我想……”皮皮公主刚开始说。
“Hello!” said a voice.
“你们好啊！”一个声音说道。
It was the King. The Queen was with him.
是国王。王后跟着他。
“Where’s Princess Pip?” the King asked Daisy.
“皮皮公主在哪儿呢？”国王问黛斯丽。
“Here !” said Princess Pip.
“这里！”皮皮公主回答道。
The King and the Queen stared at（盯着--看） her.
国王和王后盯着她看。
“You can’t be Pip!” the Queen gasped. “You’re all dirty,and you have no stockings!”
“你不可能是皮皮！”王后倒抽了一口气。“你浑身脏兮兮的，而且你没穿袜子！”
“But I am!” said Princess Pip, and put on her crown to prove （证明）it. “Look! It’s me, and I’ve found a place where the ground is made of gold!Come and see.”
“但我是！”皮皮公主说，然后她戴上王冠去证明这一点。“看！这是我，而且我找到了一个金子做的地方！快跟我来！”
Daisy and Princess Pip showed them the beach.
黛斯丽和公主皮皮带他们来到了海滩。
“ Good heavens!”said the King. “How wonderful! It’s just the color of money.”
“老天爷！”国王说道。“太好了！这正是金币的颜色！”
“What a perfect place for my sun chair,”said the Queen.
“这真是我的太阳椅的一个理想的地方！”王后说道。
The beach was a perfect place for picnics and games, and races, too. Everyone loved it.
这个海滩也是一个完美的野餐、游戏和赛跑的地方。所有的人都很喜欢它。
Then one day the King said: “ What a pity（真可惜） we have to go home tomorrow.”
……有一天国王说道：“真可惜我们明天就要回家了。”
Princess Pip scowled, and she said...
皮皮公主大叫，然后她说……
“I don’t want to go home!!!”
“我不想要回家了！！！”
