共绿色家园
我——一片小小的绿叶。我不像香味四奇花异草一样诱人；也不像碧波荡漾的湖水那样优雅；更不像色彩绚丽的彩虹一样漂亮。但是，我却无私的将自己贡献给了人类！
我将自己唯一的装饰品——叶绿素，与太阳结合制造出人类所需的糖和蛋白质。我还不断地为人类制造出氧气，并且，我还*了许多对人类有害的污染……
我如此的为人类付出，但最终得到的却是人类肆无忌弹地砍伐森林，破坏环境，破坏我所居住的美丽家园！
现在，人类的所作所为，使得沃土变成了沟壑，流沙埋没了良田，大气层更是“漏洞百出”。我们的家园受到了破坏，人类的生存受到了威胁。但是，正当无数次灭顶的洪灾袭来时，人类仍不知悔改；正当人类即将濒临死亡时，人类仍毫不察觉。
沉睡着的人类啊，赶快觉醒吧！善良的人类啊，赶快行动吧！执迷不悟的人类啊，放下手中的“屠刀”吧！我真心希望人类能把它建得更美。

Theconstructionofthelegalsystemforenvironmentalprotectionachievednewprogress,withintensifiedenforcementofrelatedlaws.Bytheendof2000,atotalof438standardsofvarioustypesforenvironmentalprotectionhadbeenformulated.Some91.5percentofconstructionprojectsstartedintheyearweresubjecttoexaminationstoevaluatetheirinfluenceonthesurroundingenvironmentand98percentofprojectsthatwentintooperationin2000wereequippedwithpollutioncontrolfacilities.Atotalof38,101environmentalpollutioncontrolprojectswerecompletedwithinthespecifiedtimesetfortheyear,absorbingatotalinvestmentof20.8billionyuan.Some2,718smoke/stcontrolzoneswereestablishedin537cities,coveringanareaof18,000squarekm,andtherewere2,288zonescovering13,000squarekmin476cities,wherethenoisepollutionwasbroughtdowntoaspecifiedlevel.
Thedeteriorationofenvironmentalpollutionwasinitiallyputundercontrol,withthetotalvolumeofdischargeofmajorpollutantsdecliningcontinually.In2000,thetotaldischargeof12majorpollutantsrecedby10to15percentcomparedwiththatin1995.BytheendofOctober2000,over90percentofthe238,000pollutingenterpriseshadmetpollutantdrainagestandards.Ofthe46keycitiesdesignatedforenvironmentalprotection,33wereuptothestandardintermsofthesurfacewaterqualityand22metthestandardforairquality.Ofthem,18citieswereuptothestandardinbothairandsurfacewaterquality,andtherestcitieswereclosetothestandards.
Progresswasmadeinkeyenvironmentalprotectionprojects.Some95percentofthe5,188majorpollutingenterprises,locatedinthevalleysoftheHuaihe,LiaoheandHaiheriversandTaihu,DianchiandChaohulakes,metpollutantdrainagestandards.Fifty-fivemunicipalsewagetreatmentplantswerebuiltinthesevalleysandanother111wereunderconstruction.Theseplantsaccountedfor67percentofthetotalplannedtobebuilt.
Initialresultswereseeninthecontrolofairpollution.Ofthe175citiesinregionsdesignatedforcontrollingacidrainandsulfurdioxide,102attainedthesecondgradestandardsintermsoftheconcentrationofsulfurdioxideintheair.BytheendofNovember2000,some3,944ofthe4,678sulfurdioxide-emittingenterprisesinthecontrolregionsmettheemissionstandard,accountingfor84.3percentofthetotal.
