The problem is, Judy's hope will be in vain; Scottie is infactuated with that illusory leading lady and not the actress who has taken off her makeup, i.e. Judy. So, in order to go back into that "movie "which has already ended, he graally forces Judy to dress up like Madeleine. In this section, Hitchcock tries to reflect metaphorically , in a deeper level, the reality of the film instry. In common parlance, Judy and Medeleine are the metaphors of two different kinds of movies; Medeleine is more commercialized and more exciting, living up to the expectation of most audiences, while Judy is ll but true, symbolizing the return to the basic literature and art qualities of the movie. Theoretically, there is no good and bad between the two, but afterall movie is a commodity, when money is involved, the latter will be displaced by the former.
