Dongying，my home，is located in the vast delta plains of the majestic YellowRiver. There are reeds undulating on the golden beach and varies birds soaringover the wetlands. Dongying is a city of oil as well as ecology. The roaringfrom the running drillings and the sweat on the faces of oil workers witnessedthe development of this land.
As an out-and-out child of Dongying，I have lived here for 20 years. Ididn’t experience the full glorious history of the land，but the customs and thespirits have branded in my heart. I could not erase them, for I am a daughter ofan oil worker.
The sincere and hard-working people here taught me what is perseverance;our mother river and the magnificent Bohai Sea show me catholicity; the elegantswans and the azure sky give us the best instance for harmony between humanbeings and the environment. Actually，all of them are the fortune for my wholelife.
It is not difficult for us to find immense differences happened inDongying, especially after the reforming and opening-up. When I was a volunteerof the China-Dongying International Petroleum Equipment & TechnologyExhibition in 2008，what shocked me is the rapid growth of this land. With theincreasing development of social modernization，we aim not only at efficientlyimproving people’s life，but in the success of constructing an affluent societyand thoroughly applying the Scientific Outlook on Development in recent decades.In order to achieve these goals，it will be our responsibilities to makecontributions. As a student at college，the greatest contribution I can do is tokeep the determination，endeavor to study scientific knowledge and keep the senseof historical responsibility. In this way，I believe，the future of Dongying willbe better.

As president of English Club, I organized the rehearsal of Snow White foran English party. Unfortunately, we could not find an actor to be the lastdwarf. It had to be someone who was humorous by nature and fluent in English.Suddenly, all eyes turned to me, and I knew I would have to be the dwarf. To mygreat surprise and delight, once on stage, I was totally absorbed in theperformance and my humorous nature was put to full use. As the dwarf, I was abig hit. Yes, each of us is only one among millions of others, but each of us isan individual and each of us is unique. Cultivating our individuality willtransform our lives, making of them a kaleidoscope of new colors andtextures.
A world deprived of diversity would be a bland and boring place. The realtragedy is not being short or shy or ugly, but having your identity lost in aworld in which everyone is a clone of a model cool boy or a flawless charminggirl.
Given a choice, I would rather be ugly than live in such a world. I'drather be a genuine dwarf accompanying a Snow White than be a Snow White amongnothing but Snow Whites. I would rather be myself. I would contribute myindividual and unique colors to create a more diverse universe. Please, beyourself.

Youth
Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals.
